Study ,Train,Study

Class went well. It got boring towards the end. It was like a refresher class. Some have never work in a hospital or medical environment. It was kinda funny. I know its not but it's a dummy,you are not going to hurt it. :)

I worked out yesterday in the gym for 2 hours. I feel it today. Since I must study,I won't be in the gym today but outside doing my 3.5 miles.
training:
precor intervals,Up the resistance,30 minutes,2.14 miles,cal. 345,H.R. 125-139.
star trac elite, 20 minutes,alpine pass,level 6,.52 mile,cal. 140, it's more an upper body work out.
Machines:
inner,outer combo,60 lbs x60
ab.curl,90 lbs x80
abdominal, 35 lbs, 4 sets of 20,2 long, 2 short
bi curl, 17.5 lbs.,x 40{weak point}
tricep ext.,30 lbs. x40
incline chest press,10 lbs,3 x10{ very weak}
back ext., 90 lbs.,x 70

My sports medicine doctor said less weight more reps.Specially the arms. Some of the motion I use a lot at work some I do not and I can tell.He also does not want me to go over 100 pounds on the legs yet.He also said no running.I can work up to the pace speed walking to keep my time in the 2 hour range. I am to young for new knees then I can't do any of this if I have hardware. :( I told him I would train in a chair.:) {i am hard headed} Burn more fat first.{rolling eyes} I have some weak points there too I have to work on. Next month I go to my regular doctor and take in all my readings from the garmin and that way they can keep track of the heart. My heart is healthy, no worries.She just wants to make sure I am not over doing it.

We all are doing this without the aid of medicine,or surgery.I see the people come in and have the surgery for the by pass. It is not the easy way out. Nope. I tell our story to them when I am at work and I give them a card. :)

Mgreene, I want to say thank you for all the advice,and the offer. I am going to try. Do you think you could make it down to the half??? That would be awesome. Anything else I could do????

I know you can do it! There was a very inspirational young woman in the 1/2M that had her leg in one of those walking casts and she was speed walking faster than a lot of runners.

E's idea about the shirt material is a winner. If you make the shirts in a material that I can run in I would buy one for the race. Otherwise, if cotton, I will buy one to wear after the race. The heavy cotton would be too much for the 1/2 or full marathon. It gets very hot running for 2.5 hours.

Thanks for making the shirts.

Prolly won't make it down as I think I'm going to try to do the Mountain Mist 50K next January. It is held on the trails up here and is supposedly on of the toughest trail 50Ks in the nation. I may do a trail 25K in about 3 weeks as a primer just to where I am.

Training wise, I'd still suggest the deep water pool running. There is absolutely no impact, but the aerobic results can be just as good as running if you push it hard enough.
